Additional Information | The New York Apples tennis team was founded in 1973 as the New York Sets and renamed after a contest held prior to the 1977 season. This button was issued after the Apples won the World Team Tennis Championship in 1977, their second consecutive title. The team folded after the 1978 season. World Team Tennis was a co-ed professional tennis league that existed from 1973 to 1978. The league was resurrected in 1981 as TeamTennis, and as of 2015 is known as Mylan World TeamTennis after its sponsor. |
