Patti Smith is an American punk singer and songwriter. She was extremely influential in the New York punk scene after the release of her first album, Horses, in 1975. She and her band, which included Lenny Kaye on guitar, were popular in the New York club scene, along with bands such as Blondie and The Ramones.  The photograph on this button is from the cover of her 1978 album Easter.
