| Additional Information | Pets Are Wonderful Council (PAW) is an organization that supports animals based in Chicago, Illinois. In the 1980s, PAW advocated nationwide for the welfare and ownership of sheltered pets. Actress and long-time animal activist, Betty White supported PAW as national honorary chairperson for the organization. In 1985, White starred in a PAW commercial in which she promoted pet adoption from shelters. In the same year, PAW sponsored a pet contest to encourage people to adopt sheltered pets with the goal of placing 75,000 cats and dogs in adoptive homes. In 1986, PAW, in collaboration with White, issued a book titled The Pets Are Wonderful Photo Album. |
