Purple Martin

As part of a set of 40, this button features a Purple Martin bird. Purple Martins are the largest swallows in North America and despite their name their feathers are a dark blue color. They eat insects and drink water while flying. Purple Martins ingest sand, small pebbles, egg shells, broken glass and other coarse materials to help pulverize the hard exoskeletons of the insects they eat.
