Portrayed by English actor, Kenny Baker, R2-D2  is an astromech droid who serves as one of the major characters of the Star Wars franchise. Often seen alongside his foil, C-3PO, R2-D2, also known as Artoo, is portrayed as an adventurous and comical droid who often finds himself in pivotal moments of the series history. In the original trilogy, Artoo served as a loyal companion to Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance, helping them in many situations in their fight against the Galactic Empire. Alongside C-3PO, R2-D2 is one of the only characters to have appeared in every theatrical film in the series.
