J.B. CARROL CHICAGO
The Rock Island Stove Company like many businesses at the turn of century released pieces of memorabilia. The company itself produced various heating/cooking stoves beginning in 1868 up until the stock market crash of 1929. The company is unique in that it was one of the first to produce stoves for western areas. The three men from Geneso (IL) who founded the company came to Rock Island in 1870 and officially founded the Rock Island Stove Company. At the company's height it sold heaters all the way from Virginia to Oregon.
Other promotional goods the company put out included pocket mirrors for make-up application (with the name of the company on them) and entire cookbooks in order to appeal to women through the 1890s - 1920s.
