| Additional Information | The first Ronald McDonald House opened in Philadelphia in 1974, as a partnership between members of the Philadelphia Eagles football team, the Philadelphia-area McDonald’s regional manager, and a local doctor. The purpose of the first Ronald McDonald House was to provide a “home away from home” for families of children seeking treatment for serious illnesses. This purpose continues to drive the organization, which has expanded to provide other services such as mobile access to health care for children, grants to children's health-focused non-profits, and need-based college scholarships. |
