During his lifespan, Ronald Reagan served in the military, was an actor, was Governor of California and President of the United States (1981-1989). At times, his movie roles mirrored his military affiliation. Reagan's military service was from 1937-1945. He first served in the Army Calvary then was transferred to the Army Air Force unit. Two of the movies that had Reagan portraying a sailor include Tugboat Annie Sails Again (1940) and Hellcats of the Navy (1957). It was on the set of Hellcats of the Navy where he met Nancy Davis, his future wife.
