Additional Information | Realizing there was not yet a more widely-accessible source of information regarding the history of the infamous 17th century witch trials, The Salem Witch Museum was established by the city of Salem, MA in 1972. Since true relics pertaining to the trials are rare, the museum is dedicated to informing all ages through immersive life-size stage sets which portray the important aspects of both the momentum leading up to the trials as well as the trials themselves. A second exhibit space was added to the museum in the late 1990s which is utilized for exhibits surrounding the evolving context of the word "witch" and how similar instances of "witch hunts" have occurred in more recent history. |
