The show featured characters Brer Rabbit, Brer Turtle, Brer Squirrel, Brer Fox, Brer Foxhound, Brer Eight Legs, The Widow, Sis Robin, Sis Crow, Brer Rooster, Brer Snake, Brer Bear, and Brer Pekinese; all were narrated by Sleepy Joe. Before television became the national mass media in 1960s, radio programs were the dominant entertainment for families. Children's programs were broadcasted between the end of the school day and supper-time, when kids ruled the dial. |
