Additional Information | Evel Knievel's Snake River Canyon jump was a stunt disaster. Crowds rioted the previous night because of beer and concession prices. When the Sky-Cycle was launched, the parachute accidentally deployed and strong headwinds blew Knieval back in the canyon, where he crashed and walked away with minor injuries. The Sky-Cycle did not clear the canyon in test runs and Knievel said, "Everyone told me not to do it, but I was determined to keep my word, so I climbed up and strapped in. When I punched the power button I thought, 'God, here I come.'" |
