| Additional Information | On March 21, 1967, police in San Francisco made a large-scale narcotics bust. Attached to the bags of illegal marijuana were ten buttons, one of which included this one. The other buttons read “Stamp Out Pay Toilets,” “Freak Freely,” “Acid,” “Jesus Was A Dropout,” and “Legalize Grass.” In addition, shirts with the same text and images--except in white rather than yellow--were found in souvenir shops in New York’s Times Square during the early 1960s. |
