Raggedy Ann is a character created by American writer Johnny Gruelle in a series of children's books he wrote. The character was created in 1915 as a doll for his daughter Marcella. Gruelle combined the names of two poems by James Whitcomb Riley, "The Raggedy Man" and "Little Orphan Annie," to create the name Raggedy Anne. He then introduced the character to the public in 1918 through the book Raggedy Ann Stories. A sequel in 1920 called Raggedy Andy Stories introduced Raggedy Andy as her brother.

When Who Framed Roger Rabbit was released by Disney through Touchstone Pictures in 1988, it was advertised with posters and buttons featuring characters from the film. The film centers around Roger Rabbit, a cartoon rabbit framed for murder who pairs up with a private eye to find the real murderer and clear his name. The character featured here is Psycho Weasel, part of a quintet of cartoon weasels sent to catch Roger Rabbit to punish him for committing murder. The film was considered by critics to be one of the best films of the year, and its inventive mixing of cartoon and live-action acting is credited with starting the Disney Renaissance.
