"Yellow Submarine" is a short film based off of the Beatles' 1966 song by the same name. The film centers around the Beatles accompanying a man named Captain Fred in his yellow submarine to free his home, Pepperland, from a group of people, the Blue Meanies, who hate music. While mainly geared toward children, the song still garnered a fair amount of attention by people for its possible social and political commentary.

John Lennon, a member of The Beatles, and Yoko Ono, an artist, met in 1966 and married a few years later in 1969. It has been rumored that their relationship was the reason the Beatles broke up. Lennon and Ono, who collaborated on several recordings and were outspoken activists for peace throughout the 1970s, remained married until his death in 1980.

Additional Information Musician was an American popular music magazine that ran from 1976 to 1999. It was particularly popular among professionals in the industry for its approach to article writing, which was geared more towards musicians themselves than it was towards fans. In particular, Lester Bangs, celebrated rock critic, began writing at Musician before going on to work for Rolling Stone and Creem later in his career. By 1981, Musician became too expensive to run as an independent publication and was sold to Billboard. It was bought back a few years later and eventually folded in 1999. Musician is remembered today for the high caliber of its articles and the in-depth look they provided into the musical creative process.
