Reddy Kilowatt was the mascot developed as the official spokesman for generating electricity. The mascot was licensed extensively in Caribbean, South America, Australia, Africa, and Asia. It even made its way onscreen in the 1940s. From the 1950s to the 1960s, Reddy also found itself on anything from jewelry to writing instruments and lighters to oven mitts and playing cards. Towards the ends of the 70s, however, the popularity of Reddy began to decline. The company later changed from Reddy Kilowatt, Inc, to Reddy Communications, Inc. in 1976. Today, Reddy Kilowatt is still around and under license of a few utility companies.
