"Uff da" is a Norwegian expression of frustration, surprise, or shock. In America, the expression is common among families of Norwegian descent and people throughout the Midwest. It is a perfectly polite expression that may be used in place of profanity or to express subtle amusement at a ridiculous situation. It is analogous to the popular Yiddish expression "Oy vey."

Burgerville USA is a privately-held American restaurant chain. It is located throughout Oregon and Washington State. With a menu that consists of burgers, chicken, and milkshakes, Burgerville is known for sourcing local ingredients and seasonal produce from the area, such as cheddar, strawberries, hazelnuts, pumpkin, onions, potatoes, and more.

VAX (Virtual Address Extension) was an innovative computer programming architecture developed by Digital Equipment Corporation in the mid-1970s.  The VAX architecture was used in various operating systems up until 2000, when Compaq announced that it would discontinue VAX products.  Despite its discontinuation, the VAX framework was influential to the development of computer programming. Featured on the button we see the Cheshire Cat, nicknamed Albert, the mascot of the VAX architecture.

GCIU stands for the Graphic Communications International Union, a design and printing union. The GCIU Union label signifies that all aspects of the work, from typesetting to finishing, were performed by union labor. 

This button is a variation of the classic yellow smiley face which is comprised of a yellow circle, two black dots for eyes and a black arc ending in serifs for a mouth. It  was designed in 1963 by by commercial artist, Harvey Ross Ball. Ball was commissioned by The State Mutual Life Insurance Company to create a happy face to raise the morale of their employees. His version was created in 10 minutes. The design was printed onto more than 50 million buttons. Neither Ball nor the company copyrighted this smiley, so it was continually used by other businesses in their promotions.

The design and concept is quite simple and was definitely used before Ball’s 1963 version. However his has become the most iconic. Variations have been used for advertising campaigns and in popular culture ever since.

An Orthodox Christian Vacation Church School (VCS) program embraces the teachings and traditions of Orthodox Christianity: Scripture, saints, feasts, worship, music, and prayers. VCS programs incorporate a number of "summer camp" type activities not possible during typical church school lessons, such as puppet shows and recreation. VCS differs from a Vacation "Bible" School, which focuses primarily on stories from the Bible and may or may not incorporate other dimensions of the Orthodox Church.

We have three words for you: Vacation Bible School!  VBS is a summer day camp program targeted at getting young people interested in "learning about the bible and Christian faith" and localized by congregations offering the program.  The program started as early as 1894 in Hopedale, Illinois by Sunday School teacher D.T. Miles.  Standard Publishing has produced the printed materials for the courses since 1923, although the program itself is not standardized.  This pin advertises VBS Radio, in which local churches can broadcast Vacation Bible School programming year-round.  VBS Radio stations are still locally broadcast today, and even online!
