While the origins of this specific button are unclear, it references the common practice of wishing upon a star. This practice may have originated in the 1st century A.D. when the Greek astronomer Ptolemy stated that shooting stars occur when the gods are looking down at the earth and listening to wishes.

This is a slang term for brain damaged, used to denote a lack of mental ability. When you have killed enough brain cells, you are dain bramaged. Coincidentally, Dain Bramage was the name of an early punk band from Washington DC, featuring Dave Grohl, of Nirvana and Foo Fighters fame.
