The United States celebrated its Bicentennial on Sunday, July 4, 1976, the 200th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. Celebrations were held in small towns and big cities throughout the year. According to the Iowa American Revolution Bicentennial Commission Report, the commemoration in Iowa was not centered on any one event or location, but consisted of a series of parades, festivals and celebrations put together by grassroots organizations such as the The Renwick Iowa Bicentennial Committee.

The Renwick, Iowa Independent School District was formed in 1892 and housed in a two story frame building until 1916 when it was moved to a two story brick building on the north side of town. In the mid-1950s, Renwick, Hardy and Vernon consolidated systems under the name Boone Valley. Due to declining enrollment, the district dissolved in 1988.

Additional Information

Chicago Ridge is a village located in Cook County, Illinois. As of 2020, the population is 14,433. Its name is derived from ridges left behind when trainloads of dirt were brought out by the Wabash Railroad during construction of the Columbian Exposition of 1893. A notable person hailing from Chicago Ridge is Tim Pyznarski, former first baseman for the San Diego Padres.

This is a variation of the "I heart NY" logo that was created in 1977 by Milton Glaser for an ad campaign created by advertising agency Wells Rich Greene. The marketing campaign was sought by then-Deputy Commissioner William S. Doyle to increase tourism in the state of New York. The campaign was a wild success. The original sketch of the logo is permanently on display at the MOMA. The logo has become iconic in pop-culture and has been imitated in many forms around the world.
