Over the years the members of the band have changed but the music has stayed alive. The original 1940s group was a band named the Oak Ridge Quartet which focused mostly on gospel. In the 1960s the band changed its name to the Oak Ridge Boys. Another change occurred in the 1970s when the band worked to change its image and shift more towards producing country music. The group lineup has remained almost the same since 1973. Numerous awards have been granted to the band and it was inducted into both the Gospel and Country Music Hall of Fame.
