During the 1970s, the Post Office was undergoing great expansion and modernization with advances in technology allowing for British citizens to dial most of the world directly by the end of the decade. Buzby and his tagline, "Make someone happy with a phonecall," appeared on toys, buttons, and a comic strip. He was voiced by Bernard Cribbins, a prolific UK comedy and voice actor known for his rolls in Fawlty Towers and Doctor Who.

Additional Information

"Wines are finger lake'n good" is a play on the phrase, “finger lickin’ good,” because of the winery’s location near Finger Lakes in New York. At the time of its establishment in 1865, Gold Seal Winery was called Urbana Wine Company. At that point, it held New York State’s second bonded winery license. During its near 120 years of business, Gold Seal Winery had many owners and many names. During Prohibition, the name was changed to Gold Seal Products Company, which produced sacramental wine. After Prohibition, the name changed back to Urbana Wine Company. They were known for their Finger Lakes champagne that used traditional European grapes that were imported from France. The name once again changed in 1957 to Gold Seal Vineyards, Inc. before closing in 1984.

United News is a publication of the United Church of God. The newsprint has been in publication since January of 2008.  The United Church of God was formed in 1995 in Indianapolis, Indiana, and has started new churches around the world. The United Church of God is considered a restorationist church, believing that many of the original teachings of the Bible have been corrupted through translation over the years and choose to opt out of many traditional holiday celebrations, such as Halloween and Christmas, for their influences from pagan and other cultures.

Starting in 1944, Dan West started Heifer International in an attempt to combat world hunger and poverty. The project was inspired by West’s experiences volunteering and feeding refugees from the Spanish Civil War. This experience made West see that giving food was not enough and hunger would still persist. The longer-term solution was to provide struggling families and communities with their own animals such as the cow or heifer. These animals can provide renewable sources of food that can lift communities out of hunger and poverty. As of 2025, Heifer International continues outreach through programs with economic development, environmental sustainability, food security & nutrition, risk mitigation, and women's empowerment.

The United Church Board for Homeland Ministries (UBCHM) existed from 1962-2000. It was the administration group that oversaw the United Church of Christ’s home missions and services. The United Church of Christ formed in 1957 when the Evangelical and Reformed Church united with the General Council of the Congregational Christian Churches (the latter traces its history to the Congregational Church, which itself is descended from Puritan settlers). UBCHM combined the boards of each mission from each church into one organization. As of 2025, the UCC still maintains varied ministries at the national, regional, and local level. In addition, the UCC has involved itself in traditionally liberal social justice positions.

Before he was the 40th President of the United States, Governor of California, or even an actor, Ronald Reagan spent his time in Illinois. Born in 1911 in Tampico, Illinois, Reagan's poor family moved around the state many times. Finally, the family settled down in the town of Dixon in 1920. Reagan attended the local high school and graduated in 1928. He stuck around the area for college, attending Eureka University and graduating in 1932. Reagan finally left the area for Iowa, where he was hired to be a radio sports announcer.

Due to his origins in Illinois and the Presidency, many drew a comparison from Reagan to Abraham Lincoln during his campaigns. Lincoln served as a Senator for the state before rising to the Presidency. In 1955, the official state slogan of Illinois became "Land of Lincoln." Due to these similarities, the phrase was also applied to Ronald Reagan, resulting in "Illinois, Land of Reagan."
