Pops Pirate was a children's radio show which ran on CBS radio from June 27, 1932 to July 29, 1932. The show was sponsored by Wheat and Rice Puffs cereal. Buttons for Pops Pirate Club came in four ranks including Captain,1st, 2nd, and 3rd Mate.

Often early radio programs advertised ‘clubs’ as well as souvenirs which their listeners could obtain by sending in a proof of purchase, such as a boxtop, from the sponsor's product. Advertisers issued cards, buttons, badges, hats, magic rings and other items.

The Oster Company, manufacturer and retailer of small appliances, was founded in 1924 by John Oster. By the 1960s, the company was developing and marketing new items such as the fondue pot and chafing dish. As part of their advertising effort, Super Pan was created as a clever superhero who fought boredom at mealtime. Comic books and buttons were widely available to attract the attention of children, and thus their parents, to the brand and products.

Big Boy is a national chain of restaurants started in 1936 as Bob’s Pantry in Glendale, California.  The iconic “Big Boy” caricature, seen as a statue outside most Big Boy restaurants, is modeled on a young boy, Richard Woodruff, who happened to walk into the original Big Boy restaurant in 1938 as the owner, Bob Wian, was trying to name his signature burger.  The Big Boy Club was a long-running advertising campaign. Children could sign up for the club at the restaurant and receive special items and coupons in the mail.

The KYB club began broadcasting over the airwaves in 1926 on Chicago radio station WMBI. The station, owned by The Moody Bible Institute, was intended to spread the word and teachings of the Christian faith. The KYB club, which stood for Know Your Bible, was a weekly radio show for children every Sunday at 2:00 hosted by “Aunt Theresa” Worman. For 36 years, Aunt Theresa and her young guests told stories, sang songs, and preached mini sermons. By 1940, the club boasted over 17,500 members.
