Cabrillo High School is located in Lompoc, California, a small city of just over 40,000 people. Lompoc is best known for the Lompoc Valley Flower Festival held every summer, its proximity to Vandenberg Air Force Base and the Federal Correctional Institution (sometimes mentioned on episodes of Law and Order), and as a stop on the wine trails popularized by the 2004 film Sideways. The locals will know a tourist to the area for their mispronunciation of the town, calling it "LOM-pock", instead of the locally preferred "LOM-poke".

Cabrillo High School was founded in 1965 and was built to support the increase in population due to the space program at the nearby Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB). Cabrillo was named after the Spanish explorer, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo. Cabrillo's mascot is the Conquistadores, and their colors are black and gold after the first Spanish Californian flags.

The Buffalo Sabres are a professional ice hockey team in Buffalo, New York. The team was founded in 1970 and plays in the Eastern Conference. This logo is the original logo for the team. Wanting so keep with the Buffalo theme of bison but not wanting to copy the other teams in Buffalo (Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Braves, and the defunct Buffalo Bison hockey team) they opted for the Buffalo Sabres, using the Canadian spelling, because according to Seymoure Knox III, one of the first owners, "a sabre, a weapon carried by a leader, could be used effectively on both offense and defense". This  style of logo was used from founding until 1996 when it was replaced by an image of just a buffalo head. In 2010 the team changed their logo back to the vintage, adopting deeper blue and gold colours.

Additional Information

This button shows the Boston Red Sox baseball team's logo.  This specific logo was used primarily during the years of 1961-1969.  The red hanging socks logo has been a prominent symbol for the team since the early 1930's.  The hanging red socks symbol has only endured minor changes over the years since the team officially became the Red Sox in 1907.

The Boston Red Sox baseball team was founded in 1893 in Toledo, Ohio as a part of the minor Western League. In 1900, the team moved to Boston, Massachusetts when the Western League officially changed to the American League.  The team was called the Boston Americans during their win in the first ever World Series in 1901 and then were called the Boston Somersets in 1902.  The name Red Sox was chosen by owner John I. Taylor in 1907 due to the color of uniform socks and has been their name since that time.
