| Additional Information | Sunrise Instant Coffee is a special blend of 60% coffee and 40% chicory. Sunrise is made by Nescafe, a Nestle brand, and was very popular in the late 1970s in the US. The coffee’s slogan, “Better natured. Not bitter” was to promote their special blend with added chicory. Chicory is a fiber that contains inulin, which makes it naturally sweet, therefore cutting the bitterness coffee contains. Sunrise ads also noted that because chicory does not contain caffeine, their coffee was naturally lower in caffeine. Sunrise is still produced in India and is available to purchase online or in specialty stores. |

| Additional Information | Chiffon Margarine was first manufactured in Texas in 1954 by the Anderson, Clayton and Company (ACCO). Chiffon was one of the first soft tub margarine products and was made out of hydrogenated cottonseed oil. A decade later, many companies had soft tub margarines on the market, and Chiffon fell in sales. In the 1970s, Chiffon advertising began airing commercials with a new marketing strategy that quickly became a pop culture sensation. Character actress Dena Dietrich portrayed Mother Nature who is given some Chiffon to taste and she comments on how natural and delicious the butter is. When she is told it is actually margarine, she is upset and says, “It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature”, followed by lightning and thunder. The popular commercial was retired in the 1980s, and ACCO was sold to Kraft in the 1990s. Chiffon Margarine was discontinued in 2002 in the United States and Canada, though it is still available for purchase in the Caribbean. |

| Additional Information | These two cheeky crocs are likely a reference to the iconic logo for French luxury clothing brand Lacoste. Lacoste was founded in 1933 by world champion French tennis player René Lacoste (1904-1996), whose playing techniques gave him the nickname the “crocodile,” inspiring the logo which is depicted on the company's shirts and polos. In the 1980s, the crocodile was a status symbol for preppy fashion and suburban culture. Lacoste has been a desirable brand since it inception, selling products outside of clothing such as perfumes, sportswear, and watches. |
